dc.description.abstractIndia with its lucrative Digital India initiatives, the Information Technology newline(IT) sector, has gained its global position in the world market with its core newlinecompetence thus becoming the largest sourcing destination accounting to 55% newlineof the world market. It employs around ten million Indians contributing newlineessentially to the economic reformation in our country. newlineAs it a project based industry, serving the clients world-wide with multi - newlinedimensional and multi - level projects that too speckled demand with swift and newlinevarying changes in the practice of technological savoir-faire have become newlineinevitable. It is to be noted that IT industry is reported to have severe problem newlineof skill shortage and contradictorily the rate of attrition is huge in this industry. newlineAdded to it, IT giants including TCS, Cognizant, Infosys and Tech Mahindra newlineare witnessing a welter of layoffs and the experts say that it may even continue newlinefor 1-2 years. Pink slips are being given to mass number of employees as a newlinepart of their performance appraisal process. Current study focuses on the newlinetechnical people of this sector, in other words the people involved in the newlinesoftware development life cycle who are the knowledge workers of this sector. newlineFrom the overview of the importance and existing scenario of IT sector, it is newlinerevealed that the sector as a whole is revamping the existing appraisal system, newlinewhich indicates that there exists some problem with the appraisal system in newlinethis sector. Though there are n numbers of studies on performance appraisal newlinesystem, the main aspect of identifying the success factors and challenging newlinefactors leading to satisfaction of performance appraisal has not been focused newlinemuch by others that too for the software development life cycle team newline(technical people) of this sector. The variables like trust, transparency and newlinereliability has been used as antecedents for plenty of studies but their role with newlinethe mediating variable organizational justice, understanding the perception of newlinethe employees.
