Rare earth doped Upconversion Nanoparticles Synthesis Characterization and Application in Bio imaging

Abstract

The inorganic nanomaterials known as upconverting nanoparticles newline(UCNPs) have the ability to transform low energy near-infrared (NIR) excitation newlinelight into visible and ultraviolet emission light. Due to the decreased light newlinescattering, NIR light excitation reduces the autofluorescence background and newlinepermits deeper penetration into biological samples. UCNPs are attractive newlineprospects for bioanalytical and biomedical applications due to their optical newlineproperties, however their performance is hindered by their poor optical newlinebrightness. Introduction, benefits of rare-earth-based upconversion phosphors, newlinetypes of upconversion luminescence, applications of upconversion nanoparticles newlinein bioimaging, motivation for the work, goal and preview of the work, and newlineanticipated results of the proposed research work are all covered in this chapter.
