Bioactivity directed isolation and pharmacological profile of Derris brevipes

Abstract

Derris brevipes is a climber, widely distributed throughout Southeast Asia. Ariel parts of Derris brevipes were successively extracted with solvents in increasing order of polarity initially newlinewith petroleum ether, then with chloroform methanol and water. Individual extracts of the aerial parts were subjected to newlinepreliminary phytochemical investigation and tested for antiinflammatory activity by four different models. The models used newlinewere Carageenen induced rat paw oedema method, Histamine induced paw edema in rats, Carrageenan induced granuloma pouch newlinein rats and Cotton Pellet induced granuloma in rats. newline
