Abstract
Today every industry is concerned with the cutting edge technology
newlinefor improving its performanceAlthough microfibres are used by the textile
newlineindustry for the production of niche products there is complete absence of
newlinework on the characteristics of yarns produced by different spinning
newlinetechnologies and the precautions to be taken during processing of these fibresThis thesis deals with the mechanical processing of various types of
newlinemicrofibres in semi high production and high production cards for
newlineoptimization of process parameters Micro modal lyocell polyester and its
newlineblends with cotton were processed in cards and studied for their performance
newlinein terms of fibre breakage neps short fibre content sliver cohesion and
newlineorientation index Spinning of micromodal and lyocell fibres was done on
newlineconventional ring and compact spinning systems for the study of tensile
newlineproperties hairiness evenness friction abrasion wicking and handle
newlineproperties such as bending and compression at three twist levels
