Abstract
Many research findings report that educational strategies for type 2
newlinediabetes is rendered with computer based education, telephone counseling,
newlineaudio taped and self readable booklets. Comparative studies have been
newlinedone between efficiency of web based education versus counseling on
newlinediabetics outcomes (Fathia et al, 2012). Type 2 diabetes decreased healthrelated
newlinequality of life, but there was a lack of information about the health
newlinestatus of people in pre-diabetic states. However, information on health utility
newlineweights for pre-diabetic states and type 2 diabetes was essential to
newlineestimate the effect of prevention initiatives. Health professionals had to be aware of the fall in health related
newlinequality of life associated with co-morbidity. This should be taken into
newlineaccount in the management of patients. Patients with discordant comorbidity
newlinewere advised and supported to maintain levels of physical activity
newline(Oshea et al, 2014). There is lack of research work on comparing the
newlinedifferent educational modalities on type 2 diabetes. With view to find some
newlinenovel methods to enhance the quality of life of type2 diabetics, this present
newlinestudy was carried out on type 2 diabetes by comparing the effectiveness of
newlineVideo Assisted Teaching (VAT) and Self Instructional Module (SIM).In conclusion, the overall study findings revealed that providing Video
newlineAssisted Teaching and Self Instructional Module benefitted the type 2
newlinediabetics to control fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, body mass index, and waist circumference measurement. The
newlinepresent study shows that video assisted teaching was comparably more
newlineeffective than self instructional module to improve the quality of life among
newlinetype 2 diabetics.
