Performance enhancement in PMBLDC motor using SEPIC and Z source inverter

Abstract

This thesis focuses on improving performance of SEPIC and Z source Inverter fed Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor drive The work primarily aims at minimizing commutation torque ripples and power factor correction PFC of BLDC motor drive Considering the requirement of industrial sector like the improved power factor reduced THD compact size and minimal cost various topologies of converter has been investigated The performance survey conducted by various converters proves significant difference in results Permanent magnet BLDC motors have a huge range of applications and they are the future of motor industry Most of the electrically powered RC controlled vehicles use brushless motors because of their efficiency Also BLDC motor drive plays a vital role in spacecraft applications But for any such sensitive application minimum torque ripple and its related harmonics are the major consideration To meet the objective of effective commutation torque ripple minimization, power factor correction and Total harmonic Distortion reduction PFC SEPIC based VSI fed PMBLDC and Z source Inverter fed PMBLDC motor drive has been designed and implemented As preliminary work conventional converter topologies such as Boost converter and Bridgeless PFC CSC fed BLDC motor drive has also been investigated and the performance is measured and compared with proposed methodologies newline
