Abstract
Microalgae have remained an area of scientific research for eco-friendly renewable sources
newlineof biodiesel production because of their high content of cellular lipids. Microalgae are rich
newlinesources of other valuable biomolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins and pigments,
newlinewhich have wide applications as ingredients in different cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical and
newlinenutraceutical products. However, recent reports suggest that commercial biodiesel
newlineproduction as a single product from microalgae is economically challenging. Therefore,
newlineefforts have been made to cultivate large-scale production of microalgae biomass, which is
newlineused as feedstock in hydrothermal liquefaction process to produce bio-oil crudes along
newlinewith multiple products using a bio-refinery approach.
