dc.description.abstractThe objective of this thesis was to design and synthesize a series of new compounds using copper-catalyzed alkyne azide cycloaddition reactions, followed by their functionalization with alkoxysilanes and silatranes. These compounds were developed for dual purposes: to evaluate their potential as biologically active agents and to explore their application as sensitive sensors for the detection of toxic metal ions in aqueous environments. The primary aim of this thesis explores the synthesis and multifunctional applications of triazole-tethered alkoxysilanes and silatranes, that hold significant promise in addressing critical societal challenges in health, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. The work on triazole-tethered alkoxysilanes and silatranes as sensors contributes to the urgent need for sensitive and selective detection tools in industrial, biological, and environmental contexts. These compounds exhibit excellent chemosensing abilities due to their unique structural features, offering cost-effective and reliable detection of metal ions, hazardous substances, and biomolecules. In a world grappling with pollution, water contamination, and industrial hazards, such sensors can empower industries, researchers, and communities with rapid diagnostic tools, enhancing environmental safety and public health. newline
