A Clinical Study To Evaluate Efficacy Of Pippali Churna Orally With Udumbar Tail Pichu In Kaphaj Yonivyapad

Abstract

The gynaecological diseases has elaborated by Ayurved under the entity of yonivyapad. Kaphaj yonivyapad is one of the most common of all gynaecological disease encountered in gynaecological practice. Most of women get affected during reproductive period and annually 20 lakh women suffer from this disease with complaints of white discharge per vaginally, vaginal itching and mild pain at vagina.1-14% of all the women in the reproductive age group were affected by leucorrhea worldwide which results in 5-10 million gynaec visits annually. In India 30% is the estimated prevalence of excessive vaginal discharge. The women silently endured this condition. Treatment agent includes various antibiotics and oral and topical antifungal. The National Institute of Health states that these drugs have side effects like headache, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, constipation, vaginal rash and dizziness.Previous research studies were conducted on kaphaj yonivyapad by giving oral treatment, local treatment and oral with local treatment. These treatments found to be effective but were of case report, case study, studies done on small group and were of time consuming method of preparation of kalka kwath. Hence taking into account of this exsisting research gap there is a need to find a safe and effective systematic as well as local medication for the treatment of Kaphaj yonivyapad, so this study was conceptualized. The present clinical study aim to evaluate the efficacy of Pippali churna orally with Udumbar tail pichu in Kaphaj yoniyapad as described by Aacharya Charaka in yonivyapadchikitsaadhyay 30/84 and 30/77. This is a single arm open labelled clinical study in which patients from OPD and IPD of Prasutitantra and Streeroga , Dr. D. Y. Patil Ayurved Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune were examined and assessed before and after treatment for per vaginal white discharge, per vaginal itching, per vaginal pain. Vaginal pH.
