Abstract

The most vulnerable group on earth is children. Whether rich or poor, male or female or be it any category the children are victims because of their inability to say NO . Hence in India, there are Acts and policies for children. Importantly, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.This study highlights about the gaps and challenges in implementing JJ Act 2015 in the perspective of various aspects among implementing bodies like Integrated Child Protection Scheme, State Child Protection Unit, District Child Protection Unit and Child Welfare Committee. According to JJ Act 2015, family care should be given first priority but in reality for children in need of care and protection aare put into institutionalization as if that is the only solution which is available. This basic remedy itself seems to be violating the basic rights of children. The care and protection of children can be ensured by clearly planned execution and networking along with the stake holders including NGOs, Government organizations, community level administrations for proper implementation of JJ Act 2015. newline
