Sexual abuse of a child is regarded as one of the most grievous and inhumane crimes against humanity. The mushrooming of POCSO cases in Sikkim, a small state with a population of less than seven lakh, where children below 18 years constitute 36% of the population, raises significant concern and demands urgent attention. Despite numerous awareness programs, enactment of special legislations, welfare policies on children, the increasing number of POCSO cases in a small state was a burning issue of the time, which has triggered to do research in this area. newline
