Abstract
The present study examined the relationship between Social Media Usage, impulsivity, and mental health among young adults aged 18-24 years. With the increasing use of social media in daily life, concerns related to impulsive behavior and mental well-being have gained importance. The study followed a quantitative research design, and data were collected from young adults using standardized tools measuring social media usage, impulsivity, and mental health. Statistical analyses were used to examine whether social media usage predicts impulsivity and mental health and to explore gender-based differences in patterns of social media use. The results indicated that social media usage significantly predicts impulsivity and mental health among young adults. Higher social media engagement was associated with increased impulsive tendencies and changes in mental well-being. Gender differences were observed in certain purposes of social media use. The findings suggest that while social media provides opportunities for connection and expression, excessive and unregulated use may negatively affect psychological health. The study highlights the need for responsible social media use, awareness programs, and mental health interventions for young adults. The findings contribute to existing research on social media and mental health in the Indian context.
