Abstract
The current study explores the dynamic and evolving relationship between academia and industry
newlinein the Delhi-NCR region, a zone known for its educational diversity and industrial significance.
newlineWith increasing global emphasis on employability, skill development, innovation, and research
newlineled development, the interface between higher education institutions (HEIs) and industries has
newlinebecome both a necessity and a strategic imperative. This thesis investigates the multiple
newlinedimensions of this academia-industry interrelationship, examining its current status, potential
newlinebenefits, critical challenges, and future directions from the perspectives of students, faculty, and
newlineindustry representatives.
newlineThe study is based on primary data collected through structured questionnaires from student
newlinerespondents (n=200) and faculty members (n=50) across various HEIs in the Delhi-NCR region.
newlineSupplementary insights were also drawn from informal interactions with industry professionals.
newlineThrough detailed data analysis and interpretation, the study highlights the nature and extent of
newlinecollaboration, perceived benefits, gaps, and recommendations to strengthen the academia-industry
newlinebond.
newlineThe findings reveal a strong awareness and acceptance among students regarding the importance
newlineof industry-oriented education and practical exposure. Approximately 72% of students
newlineacknowledged the role of industrial visits in enhancing practical knowledge and aligning
newlinecurriculum with industry demands. Nearly 88% of students confirmed the successful completion
newlineof internships, reflecting widespread implementation of internship programs in academic curricula.
newlineThese internships spanned sectors such as manufacturing, FMCG, IT, services, and research and
newlinedevelopment. Moreover, 74% of students agreed that their institutions regularly organize seminars,
newlineworkshops, guest lectures, and industry interactions to support skill development and professional
newlinegrooming.
newlineFrom the faculty side, 76% reported having had industry experience at some point in their car
