Development And Effectiveness Of A New Model For Family Health Educational Skills Training In Family Adoption Program An Interventional Study

Abstract

Background: Family Adoption Program (FAP) was introduced in medical newlinecurriculum to achieve the goal of universal health coverage. There is no newlinestructured teaching of family health educational skills and competencies newlinerequired in FAP. newlineObjectives: To develop a new (ABCDE) model for family health educational newlineskills training of medical undergraduates in Family Adoption Program (FAP) newlineand assess its effectiveness. newlineMethodology: Randomized controlled trial was conducted among 60 Phase I newlineMBBS students of 2022 admission batch; 30 students in the study group, taught newlineusing ABCDE model and 30 students in the control group, taught using newlineConventional method. Statistical analysis was done using Microsoft excel 2013 newlineand SPSS 24, IBM. newlineResults: The two groups were comparable with a mean age 18.3±0.837 years in newlinethe study group, 18.17±0.747 years in the control group, 12 (40%) males, 18 newline(60%) females in the study group, 11 (36.7%) males, 19 (63.3%) females in the newlinecontrol group. Face validity of the module was 100% for items 2 and 7, 90% for newlineitems 1, 3, 4 and 5, 80% for item 6. The C-CVI was 0.96, 0.94, 1 and 0.96 for newlinecriteria 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The universal agreement for the module was newline0.65. Family health educational skills of students in the study group improved newlinesignificantly after training. newlineConclusions: The ABCDE model is effective for family health educational skills newlinetraining in Family Adoption Program, highlighting its positive impact on2 newlineknowledge and skill development among students and improved health care newlinepractices among communities. newline
