Effect of Collaborative Learning on Scientific Thinking Social Skills and Achievement in Chemistry among the Secondary School Pupils

Abstract

ABSTRACT newline Collaborative learning is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves newlinegroups of students working together to solve a problem, complete a task or create a newlineproduct (Anandaganesan, P, 2020). Collaborative learning discusses concepts or find newlinesolutions to the problems and has Peer learning or peer instruction as one of its types and newlinestudents work in pairs or in a small group where children actively participate in the task. newlineCollaborative learning encourages students work together. According to Gerlach it is newlinethrough the talk that learning occurs. (Laal and Laal, 2012) newlineThe important of chemistry in our daily life cannot be overstated. It is obvious that the newlineneed of chemistry in all the field necessitates the growth of chemistry as a subject too. newlineThe range of chemistry as a subject need more emphasis on it as advancement in science newlineand technology can make wonders and world needs more such beneficial wonders. Hence, newlineit is important to make our younger ones to aspire to take up chemistry field. newlineChemistry is a subject with high scope. But students find it difficult to retain the newlineinformation they studied in schools. This is mainly due to the level of abstraction newlinerelated to certain concepts. Less exposure to the application-level understanding makes newlinethe students forget what they learnt. Hence the researcher, after doing a thorough study newlineon Collaborative learning decided to take up this study, as many studies in this area are newlinenot available. newline
