Cultural determinants in an institutional set up and its impact on academic achievement in geography

Abstract

Every institution has a way of defining its surroundings, a way of thinking, a set of rules and beliefs that it encourages its members to share its culture. The concept of culture is undoubtedly a very important counterpart for making an institution active. The culture within an organization is of paramount importance, playing a significant role on the holistic development of the individuals associated with it. In an institutional set up, if it is healthy, has a profound impact on the attitudes and behaviors of the students. newlineCultural Determinants are significant predictors for academic achievements and also in terms of other related outcome variables. newlineFrom the review of related studies within India: 15 and abroad 51 it was revealed that extraction of components on the basis of Statistical package based on Factor analysis may be a new direction for exploring Dependent variable in the light of Cultural Determinants. newlineTherefore a research gap may be identified on the basis of practicing cultural determinants on academic achievement which helps the researcher to conduct the study. newlineThrough the present study, the researcher has tried to know that the cultural determinants within the institution and outside the institution effects the education system in the state of West Bengal and how cultural determinants have had impact on academic achievements. Hence, the researcher has selected the title of the present study or problem in the following manner- Cultural Determinants in an Institutional Set up and its impact on Academic Achievement in Geography. newline
