Molecular characterization of ECG drop syndrome 76 EDS 76 Virus

Abstract

The present investigation was taken up with a view to understand the antigenic and molecular characters of the indigenous Egg Drop Syndrome 76 (EDS-76) virus isolates which aids in better understanding to develop an effective vaccine which is very much essential now in India due to frequent outbreaks. newlineIn this study, the virus isolates were procured from different geographical regions of India and were propagated in 9-10 day old duck embryos and were purified by ultracentrifugation in 10-40 percent sucrose density gradients. The UV light absorption spectrum of purified virus has maximum and minimum absorption between 258.9-260.n and 242.3 243.4 nm, respectively. The A260/280 ratio was observed as 1.42. newline newline
