The brief history of the power system development is presented here. The network analyzers were replaced by the digital computers in 1956 and the supremacy of the direct current was suppressed by the alternating current. This led to the development of load flow solution methods. The numerous algorithms, load flow solution methods were presented for the load flow and other studies in the past century. The presented load flow solution methods have problems like; uniqueness, convergence and multiple solutions. These problems associated with the load flow solution methods are solved by investigating the reliable load flow methods for the better future planning purpose. The plan of research work in order to investigate the reliable methods for the load flow study is worked out and presented here. newlineThe power system is normally represented by a set of nonlinear algebraic equations. These equations are solved for the solution of the load flow problems using digital computers. Load flow calculations are used to solve multiple cases; such as optimization, outage security assessment, system stability and reliability studies. The numerous methods are reported by the researchers, but the well known load flow solution methods and the simultaneous nonlinear equations have a similar problem, they do not have the unique solution according to theory. The researchers showed the possibility of unique solution and they showed that multiple solutions are possible for realistic load flow problems. Still there was a need of theoretical study which uses new functional form to derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness for the solution of the nonlinear problems. These problems are solved and illustrated with suitable system examples. The existence theorem, uniqueness theorem and the diffeomorphic nature of the new functional form for the solution of the resistive and power network problems are presented. The term appropriate large is introduced and utilized in this study. newline
