A worldwide quotrenaissancequot of herbs is now underway. As opposed to synthetics, which are seen newlineto be harmful to both humans and the environment, herbal goods are now seen as a sign of newlinesecurity Pharmacological and antifertility activity evaluation of Cayratia trifolia and newlineCaesalpinia pulcherrima in rats. The selected plant parts were subjected to pharmacognostic newlinestudies andphytochemical screening in order to standardize them. The antifertility activity of the newlineextracts of Cayratia trifolia and Caesalpinia pulcherrima in rats was evaluated using newlinetwo experimental animal models. Estrogenic activity was evaluated in immature female newlinerats using ethinyl estradiol as standard. Anti-implantation and early abortifacient activity newlinewas performed in female Wistar rats by determining the number of implantations and newlineimplantation resorptions. In estrogenic activity evaluations, the Cayratia trifolia and newlineCaesalpinia pulcherrima extract offered significant estrogen- like activity by newlineincreasing the uterine weight compared to vehicle control group.Prepared extracts newline(CTPEE, CTHAE, CPCE, and CPHAE) were subjected to solvent- solvent extraction to obtain newlinethe fractions. These fractions were further subjected to column chromatography to obtain eight newlinecompounds which were characterized by various spectral techniques like IR, NMR, and MS newlineand comparing their Rf values and m.p. reported in literature. Steroids (and#946;-sitosterol) were newlineisolated from Cayratia trifolia fruit. and#946;-Sitosterol and Stigmasterol were isolated from the newlineextract. Thus, the present study demonstrated that Cayratia trifolia and Caesalpinia newlinepulcherrima could be useful in the regulation of fertility in females. The antifertility activity newlineof these plants may be due to the presence of bioactive steroids, flavonoids, and triterpenoids. newlineNot only the extracts, as per the literature survey the isolated fractions also showed newlineantifertility activity thus justifying the traditional use of these plants in fertility regulation in newlinefemales. So, Cayratia trifolia and Caesal
