Abstract

Organizations have historically used human resource planning (HRP) to ensure the newlineright employee is in the right place at the right moment. This has also helped them in newlinedeveloping long-term as well as short-term solutions in order to adequately address human newlineresource concerns. HRP is seen as the most important managerial function of an newlineorganization as it ensures three main things which include ensuring adequate supply of newlinehuman resources to the organization, supply of proper quality of human resources and newlineeffective utilization of human resources. It also helps in increasing employee commitment newlineand boosting the overall effectiveness of the organisation. The primary objective of this research is to analyse the influence of HRP on organisational effectiveness among IT firms in Chennai. In line with this, the other objectives set for this research include identifying various variables of HRP influencing organisational effectiveness among the chosen IT firms, analyse the influence of HRP process on employee commitment, study the influence of employee commitment on newlineorganisational effectiveness and verify if there exists an association between demographics newlineof the employees and the variables influencing employee commitment ultimately resulting newlinein improved organisational effectiveness. The research has also attempted at developing a newlinesuitable model highlighting the variables of HRP influencing organisational effectiveness at newlinelarge. newlineThe methodology adopted for the research was descriptive in nature. The sampling newlinetechnique was stratified random sampling and data required for the research was compiled newlinewith the help of a questionnaire which was duly tested for reliability with the help of the newlineresults of the pilot study by calculating Cronbach s Alpha.
