Abstract
An experiment was conducted during two consecutive year of
newline2015-2016 and 2016-2017 at Hillocks and Valley Watershed of
newlineJhararghat, Lalitpur, situated in catchments area of river Betawa.
newlineThe soil of watershed area was sandy loam locally known as Rakar,
newlinehaving pH 8.1, organic carbon 0.26%, total nitrogen 0.02%, available
newlinephosphorus 10.38 kg/ha and available potassium 227.00 kg/ha
newlineinitially before starting of present experiment. The trial was
newlineconducted on farmers fields under blackgram-Indian mustard
newlinecropping system. There were four treatments comprised of
newlineconventional system, runoff recharge in stony dug wells, runoff
newlineharvesting at hill bottom in natural water impounding structure and
newlinerunoff collection in constructed water storage structure. The
newlinetreatments were evaluated on the basis of growth, yield attributes and
newlineyield in blackgram and Indian mustard. The blakgram variety Azad
newlineUrd-3 and Indian mustard CV. Varuna were sown with conservation
newlineagronomical practices.
newlineThe highest grain yield of blackgram by 9.06 q/ha was reaped
newlinefrom runoff collection in constructed water storage structure of pilot
newlinearea. The sowing of Indian mustard after blackgram in the same
newlinetreatment (T4 ) gave highest grain yield by 24.87 q/ha.
newlineThe growth and yield traits of both crops were concordant to the
newlineyields. The sowing of blackgram and Indian mustard under black
newlinegram Indian mustard cropping system in the treatment of runoff
newlinecollection in constructed water storage structure (T4) system of rain
newlinewater management gave maximum net return by Rs 1,20,675/ha and
newlinebenefit cost ratio 1:3.20. The water use efficiency and production
newlineefficiency value were also recorded higher in T4 treatment.
