Critical appraisal of Punjab state sports department

Abstract

A survey study was designed to explore the Critical Appraisal of Punjab State Sports Department. Since the investigation was subjective in nature, the investigator had attempted to gather data from both the sources i.e. primary and secondary. The original material/information was also collected from the published records like Annual Administrative reports, Sports policy, Punjab Government Gazettes, Newspapers and Magazines. The reports of sports department of Punjab have shown the efforts of government of Punjab for the promotion of sports in the state. However, to verify the facts at the ground level and to evaluate application of government efforts in reality, the researcher had approached 100 administrators, coaches, and Players and got the required information from them through the self-constructed questionnaire. The gathered information was analysed by applying descriptive statistical measures. It is concluded that the Punjab State Sports Department has created a supportive environment and a conducive sports culture through various sports programmes and schemes which encouraged the youth of the state to develop their full potential as sports persons with the provision of appropriate opportunities. newline
