Five different metal oxide nanostructures using CE (i) Magnesium Oxide (MgO) NPs, (ii) L-lysine coated MgO (Ly-MgO) NPs, (iii) Hematite (Fe2O3) NPs, (iv) L-lysine coated Fe2O3 NPs (Ly- Fe2O3), (v) Dysprosium Oxide (Dy2O3) NPs, and (vi) Dy-doped Fe2O3 nanostructures (FD) has been synthesized using CE. The components responsible for reducing and the stabilizing activity of CE towards the synthesis of NPs were characterized by LC-MS analysis. The synthesized nanostructures were characterized using UV-vis, FTIR, DLS, XRD, TGA, TEM, FESEM etc. The potential of the synthesized nanostructures was tested in the area of waste water treatment. The use of synthesized MgO NPs in MB dye removal from waste water and detection of heavy metal ions viz. Fe3+ and Pb2+ has been described. Further, functionalization of MgO NPs with an essential amnio acid i.e. L-lysine to form Ly-MgO NPs was done. The pH sensing performance and the use of Ly- MgO NPs for the development of pH sensing strips has been investigated. The fabrication of and characterization Fe2O3 NPs using clove extract was done. The role of Fe2O3 for the adsorptive removal of MB dye from aqueous solution has been investigated in detail. Further, the synthesis of an inner transition metal oxide NPs i.e. Dy2O3 NPs using clove bud extract as reducing and capping agent and their application was tested in Picric acid detection. The fabrication of Dysprosium doped Fe2O3 (FD) was also done. The potential of FD nanostructures was explored for the removal of an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) from aqueous solution. newline
