Abstract

Overall development is widely regarded as the end goal of any economic policy. The concept newlineof development in most of the discussions is considered synonymous with economic growth, newlinemeasured as year on year growth rates of GDP. However, by definition, development is far newlinebroader concept than mere increase in level of income. Apart from economic growth, newlinedevelopment also encompasses dimensions such as social, environmental, institutional and newlinepolitical setup that can bring about positive change in standard of living of the people and newlineeconomy at large. Thus, it is important that studies on development includes these dimensions newlinewhile measuring and analyzing patterns and dynamics of development.
