Abstract
This ethnographic study examines the social impact of Fablabs, focusing on Vigyan Ashram in rural Maharashtra. Using participant observation, interviews, case studies, and document analysis, data was collected from 484 respondents including students, staff, alumni, community members and experts. Findings show that Fablab Vigyan Ashram foster education, skill development, and entrepreneurship, bridging the urban-rural divide and encouraging reverse migration. They also promote sustainability, local innovation, and gender inclusivity in STEM. By integrating digital fabrication tools with local knowledge, Vigyan Ashram demonstrates how decentralized technology can drive grassroots-led development.
