Real Time Identification of Fish Disease For Sustainable Farming

Abstract

In Indian agriculture export value loss of more than 10 billion due to fish Disease as it is one newlineof the extreme obstacles in the aquaculture sector. The important part of fish health newlinemanagement is the routine diagnosis of fish disease. Epizootic Ulcerative syndrome (EUS) is newlinea serious fish disease problem in many countries including UK, Australia, Japan, Thailand newlineand Pakistan and also in India. In early post-monsoon season especially during winter the newlineoutbreak has occurred. Due to the cause of Aphanomyces invadans, a fungal pathogen, newlinedisease is clinically diagnosed as deep ulcers and heavy mortality. After all, as a causative newlineagent of bacteria and virus these ulcers are usually misidentified. For the fish health newlinemanagement, regular diagnosis is an integral part while diagnosing the fish diseases and newlinegenerally, using the experience of fish farmers or fish veterinarians for diagnosing the fish newlinedisease, Though several methods such as Histopathology, DNA based Polymerase chain newlinereaction (PCR), antibody based Immunodot, ELISA have been developed, most of them are newlinetime consuming, laborious, and require high end equipment and skilled manpower. Hence, newlinethe need of the hour is to develop a field level, and easy to understand gadget to recognize the newlinedisease.
