Abstract
Agriculture and Horticultural production are the major crops
newlinecultivated in Cuddalore district. Paddy, sugarcane, groundnut, millets, pulses,

newlineHorticultural crops like cashew, banana, guava, jackfruit, mango, etc. are
newlinegrown in various parts of the district. Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu state is
newlineconsidered to have the maximum area and production under cashew than
newlineother cashew production districts in the state and have unique demand all over
newlineIndia. The production of Agriculture and Cashew products leads to enormous
newlineamount of horticultural wastes. Wastes recycling can bring tremendous
newlinebenefits to agriculture and land management in the long run.Solid wastes are important components for recycling biomass to return the nutrients to their origin. Solid waste management is a vast challenge all over the world. Despite the availability of various methods of waste
newlinedisposal, enormous problems like soil deterioration, toxic effect and increased
newlinepollution on land, air, water and living beings are being encountered. The high
newlinevolume of waste dumped per day leads to serious environmental issues.
newlineNowadays most of the landfills are covered by solid wastes. Because of this it
newlineis very difficult to set up new sites so we are in the need of maneuver solid
newlinewastes. The rapid increase in the volume of waste is one aspect of the
newlineenvironmental crisis, accompanying recent global development.
