Renovation of solid waste using vermicomposting technology and their impact on plant growth

Abstract

Agriculture and Horticultural production are the major crops newlinecultivated in Cuddalore district. Paddy, sugarcane, groundnut, millets, pulses, newlineetc. are the major crops grown in the district. Apart from the above crops newlineHorticultural crops like cashew, banana, guava, jackfruit, mango, etc. are newlinegrown in various parts of the district. Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu state is newlineconsidered to have the maximum area and production under cashew than newlineother cashew production districts in the state and have unique demand all over newlineIndia. The production of Agriculture and Cashew products leads to enormous newlineamount of horticultural wastes. Wastes recycling can bring tremendous newlinebenefits to agriculture and land management in the long run.Solid wastes are important components for recycling biomass to return the nutrients to their origin. Solid waste management is a vast challenge all over the world. Despite the availability of various methods of waste newlinedisposal, enormous problems like soil deterioration, toxic effect and increased newlinepollution on land, air, water and living beings are being encountered. The high newlinevolume of waste dumped per day leads to serious environmental issues. newlineNowadays most of the landfills are covered by solid wastes. Because of this it newlineis very difficult to set up new sites so we are in the need of maneuver solid newlinewastes.
