Abstract

newline The increasing global demand for alternative and traditional medicine has spotlighted the potential economic and ecological benefits of medicinal plants. This project aims to conduct a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis of medicinal plants in Madhya Pradesh, a state rich in biodiversity and traditional knowledge. By evaluating the economic viability, environmental sustainability, and social impact of medicinal plant cultivation and trade, this study seeks to quantify the benefits against the costs associated with these activities. newlineThe research will involve an in-depth analysis of the supply chain, from cultivation to market, including the costs of land, labor, and inputs, as well as the revenue generated from local and global markets. Environmental costs and benefits will also be considered, focusing on biodiversity conservation, soil health, and the potential for sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, the project will assess the socio-economic impact on local communities, including income generation, employment opportunities, and the preservation of traditional knowledge. newlineThe findings will provide valuable insights for policymakers, farmers, and investors, highlighting the potential of medicinal plants as a sustainable economic resource for Madhya Pradesh. By balancing economic gains with environmental stewardship and social equity, this study will contribute to the development of a more sustainable and inclusive agricultural sector in the region. newline
