The textile industry generates large volumes of effluents which if not properly treated can cause serious problems of environmental contamination Solvent extraction using reverse micelles is proposed for the removal of Acid dye such as Acid green dye from their aqueous solutions In this approach the dye was solubilized in the aqueous core of the reverse micelles which are present in the organic phase The organic phase is subsequently separated from the aqueous phase leading to significant removal of dye Positive results were obtained when the dyes react with solvents like iso amyl alcohol iso butanol and n butanol The removal of the anionic acid green dye was done in the presence of surfactant Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide With the various parameters like dye concentration surfactant dose agitation speed contact time salt concentration temperature pH and dye: solvent ratio were studied using One factor at a time method which is one of the classical experiment design and influence of these parameters were studied using Plackett Burman design and the optimized parameters were validated using the Box Behnken design Iso butyl and n butyl alcohol has been employed for the removal of basic violet dye from its aqueous solution Experiments were conducted to evaluate percent dye removal The results showed that iso butyl alcohol could remove the dye from its aqueous solution by liquid liquid extraction The effect of various process parameters such as initial dye concentration feed to solvent ratio temperature pH contact time and agitation speed on percent dye removal was screened by One factor at a time and optimized by Plackett Burman Design The influencing parameters are identified as dye concentration solvent to feed ratio for n butyl alcohol and dye concentration newline
