Abstract
Nowadays, the automobile system is controlled by using modern technologies through electrical and electronic circuits which are called a driveby- wire concept. In this concept, all the mechanical components are replaced by electrical and electronic components without compromising the automobile system s functions. For example, the electronically controlled engines have 0-10% of high fuel efficiency with newly designed combustion chambers and reduce 99% of NOx emissions through the three-way catalytic converter. And also, the fuel injection and ignition timing are set to an optimum point. An automobile system commonly has three important central mechanical systems namely 1. The chassis system 2. The propulsion system 3. The interior and comfort modes. Currently, conventional -type systems are undergoing a massive change by substituting with electro-mechanical systems, which consist of the electronic control unit. In this view, the electronic control unit is used to control the chassis system, the suspension system and the braking system. In the conventional braking system, the occurred problems are unreliability at high speeds, more significant response time for braking, increased wear in brake pads, issues in critical temperature situations, noise and pressure created in the hydraulic lines, and more significant dimensions. The braking system can be controlled by the Electro-Mechanical system like Magnetorheological Brake (MRB) to overcome the above problems.
