Abstract
The current generation of wireless cellular networks support ervices like voice, video, images, data, or combinations of these, i.e., multimedia. To support these multimedia services with Quality of Service (QoS), it requires higher bit rate. This is the most important challenge in wireless cellular mobile communication systems. In contrast to this, as Broadband communication service offers high data rate, more people opt to go for Broadband service. This imposes significant research efforts to be carried out for providing such higher data rate communication in mobile network. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is widely accepted in high data rate wireless communication systems, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) or LTE-Advanced (LTE-A). To achieve high data rate wireless transmission, advanced techniques like radio resource allocation must be implemented for OFDMA systems. Resource allocation allocates the resources like sub channel, power, and bit among the multiple users. By allocating single subcarrier to the user with the best channel condition, the maximum data rate and the minimum transmit power can be achieved. This is called subcarrier-based allocation. However, subcarrierbased allocation leads to overhead and complexity in resource allocation when the number of subcarriers is large. The number of subcarriers in the LTE and LTE-A is likely to be as large as thousands. To mitigate the overhead and complexity in the single subcarrierbased allocation, the correlation between adjacent subcarriers in the OFDM systems can be considered.
