Muslim Rulers of India and Their Relations with Assam1200 AD to 1707 AD

Abstract

Muslim rulers of India ruled for many years in India. The Muslim rulers under Delhi newlineSultanate and Mughal rulers were ruled in India for more than 500 years. During the period newlinefrom 1200 A.D to 1707 A.D, the Muslim ruler of India invaded Assam many times. The newlinemotive behind the invasion of Assam by the Muslim rulers of India may be for political, newlineterritorial, emperial or commercial purposes. The Muslim rulers of India could not newlineconsolidate their empire in Assam and North East, due to strong resistance of local cheif and newlineAhom rulers in Assam. Assam was ruled by Ahom for about 600 years. Ahoms were the newlinemember of the shan branch of great Thai family of south - east Asia. Side by side Assam was newlineruled by local chief like Boro-Kacharis, Jayantia, Mikirs, Moran, Moran. Borahis, Chutiyas, newlineKoches, Nagas and others. They also fought against the Mughat and Mahamadan. Due to newlineinvasion of Assam by Muslim/mahamadan and long stayed of Muslim in Assam, the socio - newlineEconomic, Political and cultural development of Assam were partially effected.
