Abstract
Organizational climate is the shared perception of employees about the policies, procedures and practices of the organization, which would influence their work and satisfaction. The General Insurers Public Sector Association (GIPSA) Companies have been selected as the organization on for the study because they are the only public sector companies in general insurance sector and it will be useful to study the dimensions of climate of such units to make inferences about the impact of privatization.
newlineThe specific objectives of the study area to identify the underlying dimensions of organizational climate of Public sector General Insurance Companies in Thiruvanthapuram District, Kerala State and to investigate the relationship between organisational climate and organisational success which includes effectiveness (EFF), Job satisfaction (JS), Organisational Commitment (OCMT) and intention to quit (IQ).
newlineFor this, questionnaires were issued to all 288 employees. Out of 288 questionnaires 4 were rejected on account of incomplete response. Thus 284 questionnaires are used for the present study.
newlineDescriptive statistical tools such as Mean and Standard Deviations have been used to describe the profiles of the respondents. ANOVA, chi-square test, Factor Analysis is have also been used.
newlineThe major findings are to find out 13 underlying dimensions of organizational climate that were interpretable. The chi-square test revealed that the demographic characteristics education, dependent, service, designation, and salary have a significant association with climate perception of the subjects studied.
