Abstract
A study on A Metrics Based Framework to Improve the Reusability in Component Based Software Systems was conducted, which emphasized on improving the reusability of software components. The reuse of software component refers to the use of an existing software component with the intent of constructing a new software system. The software component being reused may have either the direct or indirect match with the context of the project under development. Software industry can be benefitted from the reuse of software component in many ways if implemented in a systematic manner. The objective of this study is to improve the reusability of software components. To achieve the objective a metrics-based framework has been proposed and a number of aspects of component-based software systems have been covered, such as, implementation of reuse program in an organization, handling of software components, maintenance of reusable components, and storage, searching and retrieval of reusable components. These aspects cover the whole lifecycle of a software component. The proposed framework has then been measured using the identified set of metrics. The results obtained have been validated through the case studies.
