Abstract
Due to the depletion of natural resources like fossil fuels coal and oil the production of electric power through conventional method possess a tough challenge for the utility The electric power demand needs to be satisfied in an effective and economic way The power system requires an alternative source to satisfy the power needs of the consumer The alternative source needs to be Eco friendly and should possess the capability to satisfy the need of the consumer Integration of renewable energy source with the electric grid is one of the good solution to meet the demand of power The integration of renewable energy sources faces three important issues; frequency deviation power quality events and instability in the power system Among the above power quality events were found to be vital In line with the proposed objective an expert system based on analytic hierarchy approach is used to detect and classify the power quality events It used to detect power quality events like sag swell transients harmonics interruptions and flickers The proposed expert system classify the events with a minimum error The simplified method makes the expert system suitable for better detection and classification of power quality events
