Study on application of adaptive E Learning among engineering entrants

Abstract

Adaptive e Learning sometimes called as Adaptive Learning is an educational method which uses computers as interactive teaching devices Computers adapt the presentation of educational material according to students learning needs as indicated by their responses to questions and tasks Unlike e Learning AeL formulates personalized learning path for the learners by collecting the knowledge state of the learner and adapting the content accordingly The learners preferences interests goals and cognitive capabilities can be considered for adaptation The present study has been conducted in the Panruti and Thirukkuvalai campuses of the Anna University Chennai The students even the teachers do not have adequate awareness regarding AeL Though the educationalists perceive e Learning and the AeL as suitable supplementary to the traditional learning method the students mis interpret it as a substitute for traditional classroom learning As the Engineering colleges are coming up all over India it becomes even more challenging to have qualified and quality faculty to deliver the lessons In such a scenario e Learning greatly helps in delivering uniform quality study materials to students irrespective of their location
