Abstract
World War II (WWII) was turning point in history of mankind, not just militarily and politically, but even technologically. Unprecedented inventions and discoveries ranging from nuclear bombs to digital computers owe their existence directly or indirectly to activity fuelled by WWII. High precision technology that was resulted in this era and following race to space increased the confidence in human technology to unprecedented levels. But, at the same time, theoretical scientists were confounded by basic doubts in very foundations of mathematics. Calculus, or differential equations was hopelessly inadequate to calculate any system involving more than two variables. As Henri Poincare had shown in his celebrated three body problem Gray J [2021] obtaining a well-defined deterministic solution to such problems was beyond the capacity of current understanding of mathematics Vesnin et al., [2018]. Such ideas gave birth to complex systems which can be visualized by complex landscape. In this kind of landscape, the problem domain will not be static. All the actors (or species) are interconnected and change in one species will affect all other species. Navigating in such a scenario is tricky. It requires domain knowledge, intelligence to recognize current situation and adapt to changing landscape. Thus, both intelligent and adaptive dynamics are essential for navigating i.e., deciding next step in current situation. Integrated Information Constant Ïand#354; is used as intelligent, cognitive mechanism and Self Organized Criticality is used as a theme on which self-organization, adaption or evolution is built. These two collaborate decide in navigating the complex landscape.
newlineThere are three contributions from this thesis. First, the algorithm and#966;-SOC which (self) organizes a system such that it behaves in desired way. But such capability needs to be harnessed in different way. In battlefield Planner, Analyst, Commander and Soldier form a set of roles from whose perspectives the and#966;-SOC can be used to derive benefits.
