Abstract
Thermoplastics play a pivotal role in contemporary research across various fields
newlineowing to their versatility, cost-effectiveness, and recyclability. These materials are widely
newlineutilized in industries ranging from automotive and aerospace to healthcare and consumer
newlinegoods. Their importance lies in their ability to be molded into complex shapes, offering
newlinedesign flexibility and enabling the production of lightweight yet durable components.
newlineMoreover, the ongoing advancements in thermoplastic composites and fabrication
newlinetechniques have expanded their applicability, leading to enhanced performance
newlinecharacteristics and sustainability.
newlineDespite their numerous advantages, thermoplastics also present several challenges
newlinethat researchers and industry professionals must contend with. One significant challenge is
newlineachieving optimal mechanical properties while maintaining cost-effectiveness, as
newlineenhancing performance often involves the addition of expensive additives or
newlinereinforcements. Another key hurdle lies in their inherent heat sensitivity. Unlike
newlinethermosets which permanently cure, thermoplastics soften or melt at elevated
newlinetemperatures, potentially compromising their structural integrity in high-heat
newlineenvironments. Additionally, thermoplastics can exhibit creep, a tendency to deform under
newlineconstant load over time. Furthermore, some thermoplastics are susceptible to chemical
newlinedegradation when exposed to harsh environments or certain solvents, limiting their
newlinesuitability for specific applications.
