Investigation of ceiba pentandra oil for power transformer insulation applications

Abstract

Electrical utilities prioritize the regular assessment of the electrical newlineinsulation properties of liquid insulation in distribution line power newlinetransformers. Recent technological progress has paved the way for the creation newlineof transformer oils based on natural esters, owing to their benefits over newlinetraditional mineral oils. Many research works have shown that the dielectric newlinebreakdown characteristics of natural ester oils are comparable and sometimes newlinebetter than conventional mineral oil. Using Ceiba pentandra seeds to create newlinevegetable-derived insulation oil gaining attention due to its status as a newlinesustainable energy resource. It appears to be promising alternative oil for power newlinetransformers. newlineThis work focuses on using Ceiba pentandra oil emerges as a viable newlinesubstitute for traditional mineral oil in power transformers. Its oxidative newlinestability can be enhanced by incorporating combinations of natural antioxidants newlineas additives. Recently, a natural antioxidant is used to increase the oxidative newlinestability and an environment friendly and#945;- Tocopherol is selected for having good newlineoxidative stability. The insulation behaviour of with and without antioxidant is newlineanalysed. The findings indicate promising alterations in critical parameter newlinevalues such as breakdown voltage, fire point , viscosity, flash point and water newlinecontent when assessing Processed Ceiba pentandra oil Including and Excluding newlinethe antioxidants as per ASTM standards and have the ability to act as insulating newlinefluid in power transformers. newline
