Experimental investigation on the influence of nanoparticles and exhaust gas recirculation on diesel engine fueled with pongamia methyl ester blends with diesel

Abstract

Existing petroleum-based fuel is not capable of meeting the energy requirements in their near future owing to quick increment in oil utilization. Unpredictable oil costs, diminishing oil reserves and high level of dangerous emissions through the utilization of mineral diesel enforced the research community to focus concentration on the utilization of biofuels in Compression Ignition (CI) engines. Exhaustive use of biofuels gives myriad of benefits such as self-sustainability, social structure, soil development, self-employment, and efficient utilization of cultivable land. Biodiesel is a hopeful substitute fuel to supplant the mineral diesel that is acquired from sustainable sources such as vegetable oil, waste cooking oil and animal fat. Vegetable oils are more appropriate resource for manufacturing biodiesel as compared to waste cooking oil and animal fats since they are inexhaustible in nature. But, there is an anxiety that manufacturing of biodiesel from vegetable oil would disrupt the foodstuff. Also, oil from Pongamia pinnata is a suitable option for manufacturing of biodiesel since it is inedible and can be effortlessly mature in a harsh atmosphere. In addition, alkyl esters of pongamia oil fulfill the norms of biodiesel in various nations. Use of biodiesel in diesel engines has couple of drawbacks like elevated density, lesser calorific value, elevated fuel consumption and elevated oxides of nitrogen. Currently fuel additives become vital and crucial newlinetools to diminish these drawbacks as well as produce distinctive products to meet different specified standards. The concept of mixing nanoparticles to biodiesel and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) has dependable approaches to address this problem. This research aims to examine the working attributes of diesel engine fuelled with nanoparticles blended biodiesel-diesel blends with EGR.in terms of area, and power consumption than the conventional approaches. newline newline
