| dc.description.abstract | Nowadays the non-conventional energy systems such as solar, newlinewind, hydro, tidal etc., are mainly used by all disciplines due to the newlineenvironmental related issues, depletion of conventional fuel resources and the newlineinitial investment cost. The dominant part of non- conventional energy newlinesources like solar PV, wind system can complement each other. But they are newlinemainly weather dependent and intermittent in nature. For reliable operation newlineand effective solution, combination of different energy sources along with newlinesome storage system can be adopted. So, the concept of renewable energy newlineapplications is considered. newlineRenewable energy sources have the advantages of high efficiency, newlinelow power loss and easy integration. It can produce energy efficiently when newlineimplemented with distributed generation (DG). It can be processed by dc-dc newlineconverter and is utilized by dc loads. It can also be utilized by ac loads when newlineinverters are connected with this system. DC generated power paired with the newlinedc loads can increase the energy savings and removes wasteful conversions. newlineAnother big challenge faced by the industrialists are source synchronization newlineand maximum power extraction. newlineThe AC-DC converters used in any applications have the problem newlineof lower power at the source side owing to the harmonics that is present in newlinecurrent and less power factor (PF). These input current harmonics can be newlinereduced by using PFC topologies. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plays a newlinemajor role for improving the PF close to unity. Conduction losses and newlineswitching losses incurred by the diodes are rectified with a bridgeless PFC newlineconverter. PFC converter improves power quality and efficiency and reduces newlinethe conduction losses. newline | |
