Investigation on power loss minimization By network reconfiguration with wap Enabled optimal capacitor switching in Radial distribution system

Abstract

Power systems are large and complex with a transmission system in newlinethe form of grid The transmission system connects the generating stations newlineand transports power to the regional distribution networks over a large newlinegeographical spread Transfer of electric energy from the source of newlinegeneration to the customer via the transmission and distribution networks newlineis accompanied by losses The majority of these losses occur on the newlinedistribution system It is widely recognized that placement of shunt newlinecapacitors on the distribution system can lead to a significant reduction of newlinepower loss I2R loss in the distribution systems and is very essential to newlineimprove the overall efficiency of power delivery In the present research, the newlineproblem of Radial Distribution System RDS reconfiguration is carried out newlineand it requires the determination of a combination of branches one from newlineeach loop to be switched out such that the resulting configuration of the newlineRDS has the maximum loadability Within the framework of the optimization newlineTechniques multiple objectives are dealt using Genetic Algorithm and such newlinethat voltage improvement and reduction of power losses in the distribution newlinesystems coexist newlineThe objective of the capacitor placement problem is to determine newlinethe locations and sizes of the capacitors resulting in minimization of power newlineloss and annual savings newline newline
