Abstract
Perchlorate, a hazardous pollutant, is mainly found in untreated
newlinewastewater from urban and industrial sites and unregulated surface and groundwater
newlinesources. Effective monitoring of perchlorate in water is essential to mitigate its
newlinepotential harmful effects. Microfluidic systems are evolving as promising
newlinetechnologies for detecting chemical contaminants in water due to their ability to
newlineenable rapid analysis with minimal consumption of reagents and samples. The
newlineintegration of paper-based microfluidic devices with digital imaging has garnered
newlineenormous attention from the perspective of developing portable analytical techniques.
newlineNevertheless, there is a need for further exploration to fully realize the potential of
newlinethese systems. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the performance of a
newlinemicrofluidic paper-based device for measuring perchlorate levels in water samples.
newlineSmartphone-based digital imaging was integrated with microfluidic paper-based
newlineanalytical device to establish a reliable colorimetric method for detecting perchlorate
