Studies on the Antidiabetic Activity of Swertiamarin an Active Lead Compound from Enicostemma Littorale Blume Gentianaceae in Streptozotocin Induced Diabetic Rats

Abstract

The current study deals mainly with phytochemical and pharmacological newlineinvestigation of traditionally used medicinal plant Enicostemma littorale Blume. A newlineperusal of the literature revealed that only fragmental information was available on newlinethis plant species regarding cytoprotective potential and immunohistochemistry. In newlineaddition the exact molecular mechanism of action of this plant species active newlinecompound swertiamarin is unknown and remote. Hence this study is designed for newlinethe assessment of immunohistochemistry and gene expression studies of candidate newlinegenes in assessing the molecular mechanism of action of swertiamarin newline
