Abstract
The predication of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in numerous applications, such as forest monitoring, disaster management, space exploration, health care, agriculture, home automation, factory automation, secure installation, habitat monitoring, border protection and battlefield surveillance, is on the steady rise. WSN technology is the basis of Internet of Things (IoT). WSN can be defined as a network of sensor devices which are referred to as nodes that can sense the environment and communicate uniquely the information gathered from the monitored environment through wireless channel such as infrared or radio waves. The sensor node senses the critical event and the collected data are delivered to the sink in WSN. The sensor nodes consume energy during events such as sensing, computation and communication. WSN are challenging because of some of their salient features. It has limited energy as the sensor nodes are dependent on battery or solar power for energy. Hence minimizing energy is a prime challenging task. This in turn leads to limited computation and communication capabilities. Proliferating number of nodes may be needed to cover a region as nodes have limited communication capabilities.
