Abstract
People s Archive of Rural India is a digital journalistic platform founded in the year 2014 by P.Sainath, a veteran Magsaysay award-winning journalist. The archive serves as an
newlinealternative medium that represents the subaltern voices of the nation, focusing on rural
newlineIndian issues related to agricultural crises, gender, ethnicity, traditional and indigenous
newlinearts and trade. The archive is being improvised and upgraded with time and contains stories grouped under 25 category headings which are thematic in nature as on December 2024. Some categories are Things We Do , Things We Make , Adivasis , Women ,
newline Health , Getting There , Musafir , etc. The category, Things We Do speaks about
newlinechallenging and dwindling livelihoods that need patronage and recognition. The category
newline Things We Make discusses stories about making artefacts and substances of ethnic
newlinesignificance or articles related to traditional livelihood, arts and cultural heritage. Getting
newlineThere and Musafir compile stories related to transport and migrant workers respectively. The study considers PARI as a medium for Development Communication and attempts a qualitative case study on the same.
