Abstract

Functional foods can be considered to be those whole, fortified, enriched or enhanced foods that provide health benefits beyond the provision of essential nutrients (e.g., vitamins and minerals), when they are consumed at efficacious levels as part of a varied diet on a regular basis. newlineLinking the consumption of functional foods (Barley, Soyabean and Gram) as major diet in Breakfast of obese women suffering with clinical disease newlineIn this Experimental study of three months duration with functional foods (Barley, Soyabean and Gram) as major diet in Breakfast of obese women suffering with clinical disease the preintervention and postintervention data related with BMI, Disease status, Awareness about Functional Food and life style related changes was significantly recorded during the study. newlineFunctional foods represent one of the most intensively investigated and widely promoted areas in the food and nutrition sciences today. However, it must be emphasized that these functional foods can help in weight reduction and improvement in lifestyle with controlled the disease condition. Appropriate nutrition is only one aspect of a comprehensive approach to good health.
