Educational Opportunities Socio Economic Status and Human Development a study with reference to two districts of Orissa

newlineEconomic policy is concerned with welfare by eradicating economic maladies such as illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, and regional disparities. Planning authorities are responsible for overcoming existing deprivation and disparities to accelerate growth and human development. The real problem of the Indian economy is not only financial but also human. Human sector development is the prime objective of all sorts of policies. The development of the human sector, education, and training are the most urgent requirements because education trains the minds and stimulates them to furnish all economic activities efficiently. newlineWith this background, the present research has tried to assess educational opportunities available in Orissa(Odisha) and sample districts and toanalyze the impact of education on the income, expenditures, and socio-economic life of the people in sample districts as far as human development is concerned. It has also made a humble attempt to discuss the educational policies of the government of Odisha and the impact of incentives on students among the weaker sections of society in terms of human development. The current study focuses on two districts in the state: Cuttack and Mayurbhanj, which are located in different regions. Cuttack is a developed coastal district, while Mayurbhanj is a tribal district. This comparison aims to analyze the impact of education on human development more effectively. newline newlineThe number of primary schools in Odisha increased from 2005 to 2011, while the student-teacher ratio declined during the same period. The dropout rate is higher among scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students than among general caste students. In the studied districts, the number of schools has increased more in the tribal district of Mayurbhanj than in the coastal district of Cuttack at the primary level. In contrast, the dropout rate has been higher in the Mayurbhanj district at the upper primary and secondary levels.. One of the hypotheses that can be inferred from the study is that
