Abstract
The thesis entitled Social Exclusion of Migrant Labourers: A Study of Ludhiana and Kharar Towns of Punjab aim to analyze the Social Exclusion faced by Migrant workers at the place of destination. It consists of seven chapters, each of them dealing with different aspect. Research explores the socio-economic conditions of migrant workers. It deals with the reasons of migration and the socio-economic status of migrant workers at the place of destination. The pattern of social exclusion faced by migrant workers is studied. Additionally, the study explores the unstable life of migrant workers and throws some light on the existing sub-culture of the migrants. Through case studies it seeks to understand how migrant workers are turned into modern nomads. The Gender Oppression as lived experience of Women in Urban Slums is studied. The Governmental Intervention through Schemes for migrants is explored. It studies the role of government policies to uplift the conditions of migrants.
