Abstract

Electrical Power Supply (EPS) to DC water pumping systems newlineshould be constant to avoid low performance and unwanted maloperation. newlineNormally boost, buck and buck boost converters are employed to provide newlineconstant power output to water pumping systems. Switched Capacitor newlineConverters (SCC) are preferably employed for low power applications newlinebut not apt for high power applications due to its associated problems like newlinelow stability in operation, high ripple in input and output currents, high newlinesurge current, less voltage regulation and poor efficiency. The main newlinereason for these drawbacks of SCC is absence of inductors in it. The newlineabsence of inductor allows the current to rush into the capacitor during newlinecharging time interval of capacitors which directs the converter input side newlineto have more ripple. Also, during discharging time interval, the capacitor newlinedischarges at faster rate and it results rapid decrease of voltage at load newlineside which leads to poor voltage regulation. This abnormal performance newlinelimits the use of SCC s to only for low power applications. Hence, in this newlineresearch efforts are made to improve the performance of SCC s by newlinedeveloping Modified Switched capacitor Luo Converter (MSCLC) for newlinehigh power applications. newlineix newline
